Could an Abduction Beat the Warrior?

Alright let’s talk Abduction. I’m very sure that the fans will be totally psych. And many surprises in the movie with some of the most legendary actor and actresses in the movie. Sigourney Weaver, Alfred Molina, Maria Bello, Jason Isaac and Dermot Mulroney as the Hidden assassin father, many great name have lend a hand is this thriller, but essentially still a Taylor Lautner only film. So can Taylor carry the whole movie through? Somewhat to certain level, the answer is Yes. He’s charming, good looking, and totally fit for an action heroes role. The only concern is that either he is still too young or the acting is still too raw to improvise on the spot. There are certain scene that surely still need some improvement on. And the storyline still need some redefinition whether it should be just merely a teen-tween genre or a full blown action movie. I think and I believe that Taylor would love it to be the latter too. Though I know that the movie appeal to youngster, but I believe even adoring teenager also love to watch their idol in full blown mode than the scale back one.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Spoiler Alert~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So the story is a youngster find out that his family is not who they are, not even his own. And then they are killed when he answered an online missing person ad. And the chase start and the suspense continue. Not much of a suspense really when it’s reveal within the second quarter of the movie. So it is a great movie to features all of Taylor’s advantages as a valid action actor and it also fail to hide all his flaw brought forth from when he is in Lava boy.
As the Autumn starts, all so the beginning of a long long series of made for awards movie. finally the studio is rolling out some heavy hitting. Starting the season off with Warrior. 2 estrange brothers, fighting for different causes. 5 million dollars at stake, who will win. In the old format, this may easily becomes another Karate Kid. But the story is solid enough to portray and reflects really human essence in every scene. I know from the beginning it’ll be a contender for best movie this year. But will it takes on any best actor, I’m not sure that Joel Edgerton and Tom Hardy did enough to secure that prize. I do think that they have a shot on Best Ensemble in SAG. And Nick Nolte did a fantastic job at tweaking his face into that sadness that resonates throughout the movie. So I believe a Best Supporting is half in the sack.
The Rocky, Fighter vibe of Warrior takes the fighting ring into the context and makes it about love and family are great theme to explore. Even the Cinematography may get one or two nod. So Oscar here we come.
The War between 2 sibling country, against a British MI7 and a newly improved Vampire. Who would u Rather?
This week on the movie board, we got the war rampant Georgia. Not the US Georgia Civil War. The story is about a team of reporters trapped and capture what happen in Georgia, the country formerly under Russia, the short invasion from Russia to the borders of Georgia.
It’s a pretty accurate depiction of what real war scene is like. Represented the hard and difficult work of the reporter, of course to dramatize the environment, there’s a bit of romance going around. But overall the movie is pretty true to it’s storyline.
If you want to experience some realistic war scene, this is the movie to watch.
Next up would be the funny Rowan Atkinson (better known as Mr. Bean) is back with Johnny English. The spoofing movie of Bond, this time the silly agent is making his way worldwide from Hong Kong to Switzerland. Still as funny, still as silly, and clumsy. If you want to get a good laugh go with Johnny English. I know that everyone here is going for it, as every show is sold out. I know that everyone in the state is going for Lion King 3D this week.
The last but not least, one of the most interesting movie of the week would be the return of Colin Farrell to the big screen as the manipulative and brooding Vampire. Replacing William Ragsdale as the youngster that stuck in the middle of this revival of the new era vampire movie of 1980’s is Anton Yelchin. I wonder if anyone watches the Fright Night Part 2. Would they remake that version too? Haha. Anyhow, it’s an old cult classic turn just plain classic now. A sleepy neighborhood terrorized by this new comer that no one knows about and everyone beginning to be missing and the teenager just caught in the midst of a repopulating clan of vampire. How does it fair with the older version? Well, it’s a new energy, though I do miss the old dark version though.
We are Fight Aliens Within Inner Space (Contagion) and outer space - on the moon in (Appolo 18)
Contagion probably is one of the best cast movie of the year. You got OSCAR Winner dropping like flies all over the place. While I love the concept and the actors and actresses in the movie, but to tell the truth, aside from the box office success, every scene is so short lived that I could hardly feel any chemistry at all. It’s a good story telling but there’s no sparks. Just a straight forward dooms day theoretically portrayal of the future. If a highly contagious virus just spread, the one side I love is the authority and the politics reaction just hit it right on target in the movie. But it is far from any infectious movie I’ve seen before. There’s no buzz afterwards or before. There’s just all the calm lines delivered. And it’s not apocalyptic either. Not sad, not blast-astic, just plain old story telling.
The other show premiering on the Asian Border is Apollo 18. If you don’t know what the movie is about you are in for a shock. I was in a cinema totally fully packed with at least 90% of them having no idea what the movie is about, some even bring their kids in. Fortunately they are asleep even before the astronaut landed on the moon. And this teen sitting behind me keep asking whether this is real or not. Aren’t they the new generation with internet at their finger tips? With one click they’ll got the answer? Didn’t he recognize Alphas (the TV Show) and the guy from Miss Porter movie?
(Well apparently the prediction statistic that show the internet is not making people become closer is proven correct now a days. We are more divided now a day with the relationship far too easily obtain and broken and real human contact shrink close to 0 in a day. Anyway that’s another movie in the making.)
Back to Apollo 18, the mission that did not happen, is in essence a sci-fi horror movie. The theme is classified file have been release and here’s the reason that Apollo 18 was never officially reported and the reason why mankind have never venture into the moon anymore. ……. Shhhh……. There are others on the moon and they can dominate our whole population…… ain’t that an old trick in space movie?
Anyway, I love the idea, the film done fantastically well just want thing. If you don’t like Cloverfield, then this one might not be your cup of tea either. The realist camera movement can sometimes give you motion sickness. At least I’ve seen one guy went out half way to throw up. So be careful when you watch this one.
Cars Speed on, The Smurfs bring the Blues and the Barbarian Ravage on!!!
After resting for the past week, we are back, with a vengeance. You know, even holidaying still we’d be able to do our fav pass time. The movies.
This week we gone deep cover into the Cars 2 2D vs 3D controversial. Apparently while a hell lot of movies have gone rogue with the 3D trend. But I think it’s still debatable whether every movie fit into the frame. Cars 2 in 2D is simply as great to watch with or without the 3D lenses. So why do we pay more for the 3D movie. Simply because the studio says it’s meant for 3D? The story I’ll admit is kinda old. But the big spectacle of a world race is still a welcoming theme. And for those that haven’t seen the first movie. (I went with my family that have no idea what Cars is all about and amazing at the creation of a whole new cultural world of Cars.) There’s race, the spies issue, the capture and release and the fights. Totally different from the old junk Cars.
Another great example of not to watch movie in 3D is Smurfs and Conan the Barbarian. Yes, they are both movies meant to watch in 3D. But I’ve watched both version. For the Smurfs, besides the few scene that’s right in your face. The rest of besides those 5 seconds are just plain as great to be in 2D.
The blues have totally strike. A great family movie and Patrick just keeps on impressing us with his great acting. The Smurfs smurfs out of the enchanted world into our world. Oh My Smurfs, Gargamel smurfs with them and smurfs the hell out of New York. HAHA! Always wanted to do that.
As for Conan, it’s not at all the old Arnie Barbarian. Mamoa looks just lights up the whole movie. people surely can’t stop watching him fights, nor take their eyes away from his body….. Some girls in the audience actually squirm when they saw him come out on the first scene. Mind me saying that they are not squeamish with the blood, but swan on his chest muscle. So the verdict is in. contrary to my Girlfriend opinion, Conan is not as bloody as 300… period.
