Captain America Save the World!!!!

Just watched Captain America on its official International Premiere, Super psyched about the whole thing, because I know that the whole thing will be developing into the next 3 to 4 movies.

It is anything as you expected of a super hero movie that brings you back to the past. The same old story of the origin of Captain America. I dun know if it’s because people have been accustom with the whole watch the current movie first then watch the prequel thing. To tell the truth, either because of the name, or the lack of promotion or the rather unmystical nature of Captain America Story or the wariness people have (in their mind and their pockets) that this summer block buster is not totally embraced. I was in a movie theater with less than half full to my surprise.

Anyway, the old story is, it’s WWII, the Nazi is rising and America created a Super Soldier. And the famous red scull is trying to conquer the world. The fight scene is fantastic. The effects is as close to perfection as Thor is. And Evan did a great job bringing the charismatic First Avenger to life.

Spoiler Alert!!!!!!!

There are scenes that doesn’t really interest people. The downgrading of Captain America not being embraced when he became super human and resort to being a circus clown scene to sell bond, is a shame smear of the hero, and though it’s short yet still it felt unease to watch and long repeated.

But as the fights begin, it’s all up hill, yet while Thor felt every scene is taken into care for, Captain’s fight scene felt rushed. All the fights and capture, felt like it’s a super fast and long winded introductory to the next movie, The Avengers really, I believe if the director could cut of one minute or so on the clown scene and add on a couple of minutes onto the fight scene or the transformation scene would makes the movie less rush and completed. Though these might add on an extra 15 min to the whole movie. but I believe people won’t mind.

Reminder!!!!!

In all Marvel movies fashion, there is always the end of credit short scene not to be missed. To wait for a few more minutes to get to it. Of course Captain America’s is the coming attraction to the Avengers movie. Don’t miss it.

Hanna, Brutality and Gentle combined

Captain America has set great box office in the US. But most of the country around the world have not seen the movie yet. Allowing Harry Potter and Transformer to take more stake of the summer ticket sales.
So this week, we turn to watch some movie that’s not too promoted at all.
Hanna is one movie that’s been missing out from people’s mind because of lack of promotion yet it’s a chilling and fantastic movie to watch.
Seeing Saoirse Ronan acting as the innocent yet brutal trained super agent is simply breathtaking. You fell in love with her the first moment those blue eyes appear on the big screen, then she show her talent when hunting the deer, then the bravery in going into the agency to kill the handler and escaping.
The story has both depths and rhythm and speed and velocity.

Larry Crowne, a Simple Affair

Here is a good way watching a bunch of award winning actors and actresses playing with themselves.

Larry Crowne is a fun simple ordinary man story, the only thing different is the person playing these people are extra-ordinary. The acting is effortless. The story is simple. The chemistry is subtle. Loves a little laughter? Here’s a good one for the non-tween generation.

Larry is a guy just got down-sized and got back to college to get a degree. None of the big drama of falling in love with a teacher and a student stuff. This movie is very light-weight.

He falls in love with the class. Met a student half his age and took him on a strange but fun scooter food parade groupster. Looks as if even when you are over 50, you still can have fun on a dime.

So there you have it. A guy lost his job and somehow found a new life.

Harry Potter comes to an End.... Who Lives, Who Dies, and Who's the Hero. It'll all be answered. Fight to the End!!!!!!

It seems like that the End of Harry Potter doesn’t really come with lightning or Thunder.
I dun know what’s happening at the States or UK. But last night when I was in the Cinema for the first night the movie is shows over the pond. The theatre is not sold out at all. A far cry from the fullhouse packed, sold out trend 3 days before the show’s Transformer.
Could this be the summer blockbuster fatigue or the denial and intentional delay of the inevitable ending of a beloved Saga for the past Decade?
Anyhow, as I’ve expected, the movie really show be shown in 2 parts but together at the same time. Because though the part 2 of Deathly Hallow is action packed into the full 2 hours display, yet, the lack of scene changes and 2 dimensional storyline makes it felt like time just flies. And suddenly it ended abruptly as it begins.
Everyone knows by now, that part 2 is the continuation from part 1, where Harry just escape from Malfoys and still chasing after the Horcrux. The big fight will end at the castle where it all started. All secrets will be reveal, including Evil Severus Snapes come to being how he is today and the important role he play in Harry’s beginning and ending.
Part 2 has almost follows the book right to the last bits of it. Almost. And the fight scene is humungous. And the 3D effects are totally perfected this time compare to Part 1. There’s just one rare occasion in the fight sequence where Harry and Hermione and Ron were running through all the fighting and the lack of sound just dumb founded me a bit. Because the softspoken quietness totally contrast and de-climax the whole situation. I just hope that the sound effects can put in some boom on the scene and makes it as splattered, messy, huge and heart rushing fight scene as it is.
Finally, we get to see McGonagall and Mrs Weasley really fight with a wand and win over the evil....
Somehow, after the end comes, many would feel that it ended too fast. And the too natural transition is just too easy to accept something that lasted over a decade (if you include the book reading). Just ended it’s final ride by taking a simple bow.

Monte CArlo is a GAmble..... and a good one against Transformer

Alright, Monte Carlo, the chick movie of the week. I bet that there’s many people still going for Transformers and the Green Lantern and Super 8.

Unless the girls wanted to watch some romantic comedy, none of the guys will take on this movie. or some swooning tween would like to see some beautiful ladies and handsome guys.

But actually to me it is a breath of fresh air with all the summer blockbuster movies coming out weeks after weeks. Not to mention the fresh air literally of escaping the stuffy 1 mile long tickets line for some fresh air. Fortunately for early booking collection counter and online ticket counter and I’d be able to skip the line.

Let’s get back to the movie. Monte Carlo prove to be a little bit of Tiffany vanity and romance-in-Rome-esque kinda comedy. Lovely to see the girls going out of their way and realizing that what they want they already have or to find real love. Typical but it is lightly funny. It’s light hearted and funny and great fun and you get 3 love story in one shot. Not a bad deal really.

So if you are ready to escape the crampy heavy special effected movies out there, take some good acting and light-weighted script. Monte Carlo is your choice.
